Developers from the Billings Innovation Center on Montana Avenue presented updates alongside teams from the Rimrock Tech Lab on 27th Street North. Both locations hosted closed-door sessions with local investors and energy company representatives last week. The Billings Tech Alliance, which runs the center, also coordinates a quarterly accelerator that has accepted twelve new startups since January.
Participants at the Rimrock Lab tested early versions of a logistics dashboard that integrates satellite data with local rail schedules out of the Billings yard. The center on Montana Avenue meanwhile showed prototypes for endpoint security modules aimed at oilfield contractors operating in the Bakken region.

Billings technology employment grew 18 percent between mid-2025 and mid-2026, according to county workforce data, with median salaries listed at $92,000. The sector drew $47 million in new venture funding during the first two quarters of this year. Individual product licenses for the upcoming tools are expected to start at $4,800 per year for small operators.
